It's been a while since I've been writing bullshit news here. The question really is if anyone even wants to read these things but lets see. I have lots of complaining to do this time and it all goes for the Beijing olympics, or the site that offers those flash streams live from there.

Right, lets start with it then. Visit their homepage and see if it works with your nice alternative browser that can do all the standards properly and do not have limited functionality or millions of security holes available for everyone to abuse.

So I'm guessing it didnt (ff/opera/whatever) manage to work just like that, instead you got fucked up your ass with too big dildo. So ok you go there and try it with "internet exploder" and you actually manage to stream some shit even if it bugs from time to time, not opening all the streams with first try and some little errors. Perhaps you didn't have the very latest flash plugin and your browser went slow as hell. Well, it does lag when opening stuff in any case, just try to check that programme guide if it works.

Ye ye, what an assholes they are. Supporting only THE SHITTIEST browser on earth and even failing MISERABLY doing that. Next time, try not to suck so much donkey balls? So anyway that stuff that you actually watch from there runs just fine until that stupid 20 minute limit that you can watch single stream without needing to bother yourself on re-clicking that damn stupid play button. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING MAKING THAT LIMIT YOU STUPID FUCK WEB PAGE DESIGNER ASSHOLE? And even if the timelimit wasn't there, guess if you can maximize the video being played. Of course not, what did you expect.

As for the last thing, really, you people who actually use that damn shitty IE: Are you on drugs or something? How can you even start telling other people how great your shitty microsoft browser is when it's anything but good. Not only does it's upgrading require a windows reboot (hahahaha plz, it's 2008 and I don't see my windows trying to reboot with other browsers I install) but it also takes a shitload of long time compared to those few seconds it takes to install FF or Opera. As a bonus you get very limitd functionality with your shiny new IE and very bad default GUI. So please, do not come to tell me or anyone else how great your fucking horrible piece of shit browser is, I've been using it way too much already in one day just to see few olympics streams and had difficulty even doing that. I know my main browser can do a shitload of things faster, better, supporting standards and with smaller memory/system overhead.

Over and out, go kill yourself IE user.

Guess what happens when ISP decides to upgrade some ADSL hardware? Things get broken. A year ago in january my ISP Elisa Oyj did some changes on their ADSL hardware resulting my ADSL's upload speed to drop from 1024kbps to 832kbps. Also the upload speed got less than 832kbps due to fluctuation and errors the connection started to generate.

So of course I complained about it for 4 months before Elisa Oyj did anything to my connection. Normal reply was just that "your hardware doesn't work properly" even if it used to work before and by the hells I had two different sets of hardware just to be sure it wasn't my fault (2 different cables, 2 different modems, 2 computers and 2 different plugs on the wall). They actually managed to fix the ADSL partially but it didn't work at full capacity since the speed wasn't even the same as linespeed was reported to be.

Now after a year Elisa Oyj has upgraded their ADSL hardware again. This time things got fixed and my linespeed is 8128kbps/928kbps instead of 8064kpbs/832kbps and my connection is actually pushing the data at full speed instead of 75% it used to. We'll see how long things will work but I guess it won't take too long before it gets broken again.

Today they finally arrived; Beyerdynamic DT860 headphones that were intended to replace my old Sennheiser HD280pro headphones. So I decided to write some sort of review putting the two headphones against each other. Lets start by checking features on paper.

Sennheiser HD280 pro

Type: Closed Circumaural, dynamic
Weight: 285g
Impedance: 64 ohms
Response: 8-25000Hz
Isolation: 20dB

The good thing about these headphones is that they are closed, effectively isolating ~20dB of outside noise making them excellent choice for noisy environments. The bad thing about this is that they might feel a bit uncomfortable and sweaty at times. Also the phones make you feel the sound is playing inside your head. Stereo separation appear to be adequate and frequency response is somewhat good. LFR bass is pretty strong and mids are good but something between them is missing. Higher frequencies are also good but they could be better. Overall frequency response is therefore pretty good but lacks really strong punch.

Beyerdynamic DT860
Type: Open Circumaural, dynamic
Weight: 340g
Impedance: 32 ohms
Response: 5-35000Hz
Isolation: 0dB

I am currently conducting listening tests with these headphones so I might change my mind later. Anyway being an open type headphones there is no isolation against outside noise. This could be good or bad depending on the situation. Also these headphones are more comfortable to wear since they do not squeeze one's head. Stereo separation is definitely much better than HD280pro's. LFR bass is probably not as strong as with the HD280pro but it's more natural and a lot wider. Also higher frequencies supercede HD280pro's scale and mids are somewhat better.

So which one is better? There's no really doubt. HD280pro might have better LFR bass but lacks impact and wideness DT860 offer. Also overall soundstage/frequency response/stereo separation is better on DT860. It is really disturbing how much better DT860 plays certain songs. I will continue testing and update this review if necessary.

So some of my friends finished their military service and some just started it. As you may have (or may have not) noticed the inspiration for this writing came from "pallinaama rax" who just started his military service at some shitty place that I don't remember (anyway it doesn't matter since all of THOSE places suck).

Well, it's definitely not the best time of the year anyway. Air temperature is something between +3 and -4 degrees celsius and it's snowing or raining all the time ;) . Must be some serious fun getting wet while crawling in the wet snow. Actually, you could theoretically piss your pants in the self-pity and mental illness mil.fi causes and no-one would notice it, except the yellow snow ;)

So what's finnish army all about? Well, to be honest it's all about big men with leather belts yelling at "young adults" and telling chauvinist jokes at breaks. Do they actually teach you how to fight? No, not actually. In some places there is some close combat training but elsewhere it's more like firing assault rifle at shooting range. Oh, you get to walk in the forest but guess twice if you've got live ammunition there.

You could call finnish military service a "kindergarten for young adults"

So "paltsi", have fun while it lasts and don't jerk in the bunk at nights, it's really gross ;)))

Normally I wouldn't post anything related to my computer(s) but this is an exception. So, I decided to upgrade my system due to lack of decent fps in Unreal Tournament 2004. My old system was as follows:

- Abit NF7-S 2.0 (nForce2 ultra)
- Barton 2500+ @ 2308MHz
- Corsair TwinX1024LLPT PC3200
- MSI NX6800GT TD256

Thinking about the upgrade, there was NO real competition so it had to be socket939 based AMD Athlon 64 with 512kB L2 and dual channel memory configuration. The only thing causing hesitation was choosing a motherboard for the setup. After reading multiple tests I decided to go with VIA KT800pro against my former decision (thanks to KT133A chipset) and I chose Asus A8V Deluxe Wifi-G (rev2.0). So the system would look like this:

- Asus A8V Deluxe (VIA KT800pro)
- A64 3500+ (2200MHz) @ 2332MHz
- Corsair TwinX1024LLPT PC3200
- MSI NX6800GT TD256

Running at exactly the same clockspeeds as the former setup, the new one is 28%-29% faster. With only 6% overclock (11*212MHz) not only the old system is beaten hands down, also highly overclocked Northwood P4 (~3900MHz, ~243MHz FSB) is no match for the setup in the terms of gaming.

Have you ever wondered which manufacturer to choose when buying a graphics card? Well, I make it easy for you: In any case don't go for an ATI card but instead choose one from the NVIDIA; Preferrably one of the 6600 or 6800 series since FX-series suck. Pros include:

- OpenGL ICD that actually works
- noticeably better 2D image quality at high resolutions
- Conformant Texture Clamp: no more pixel popping on vertices
- more vivid colors
- a way better filtering quality
- drivers take less system memory
- drivers actually improve sometimes

That's about it. There are lots of other small things too, but those mentioned are the most obvious ones.

Really interesting things have happened. Actually nothing have happened but I've found an interesting game where I can create missions that suck. Ladies and gentleman: Operation Flashpoint: Finnish Defence Forces :) Yeah right, indeed, intriguing. Watch Star Trek: Enterprise, it rules.

Removed Final-Heaven forum completely due to lack of usage. It will not be coming back since people are able to share their thoughts live on IRC. Besides the forum was never intended to be nothing more than a "quick" test.

The second try. Maybe these pages are a bit better than those created @ 03:00 (gmt+2). Any suggestions will be considered if you wish to improve the overall looks. I wouldn't be too interested in this anyway.
